Today over a 100 000 people living in the Langeberg District are unemployed

The Breede Centre is a skills training centre for young people who are unemployed and/or have not finished formal education and aims to cultivate self-reliant, empowered individuals, capable of using their practical skills and personal initiative to act in the world with confidence. Long term handyman, cooking and sewing training are each connected to a social enterprise which provides a practical training ground and helps with covering costs of training. Life Skills training using art and counseling is an integral part of each training.Short term Courses in entrepreneurship, computer and languages are encouraging people to create their own businesses. Youth activities include afternoon and holiday activities for the village children, homework support and extra Math, English and Afrikaans lessons.
